What raw materials does Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP come from?
This product is made from phosphoric acid and ammonia. Take phosphoric acid and place it in a stone reaction tank. Slowly pass ammonia gas through a bamboo tube, stirring with a wooden paddle while passing it, so that the two can fully dissolve. At first, the solution is slightly warm, and gradually boils. When the bubbling slows down, take the test solution and drop it on the comfrey paper. The paper turns dark purple, which means the reaction is about to succeed. At this time, stop the gas, transfer the solution to a copper plate and evaporate it until it is as thick as a paste. Pour it into a wooden mold and cool it. After it solidifies into blocks, break it up and dry it with hot air to get Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP. The method is similar to boiling sugar to make honey. The heat and ratio must be accurate. Too much ammonia will make it fishy, and too much phosphoric acid will make it sour, both of which are not good products.
What is the shape and properties of Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP?
It mostly appears as gray-white particles, the size of peas, solid and round, with little broken powder. It is slightly shiny and the cross-section is fine and free of impurities. It is hard and brittle, and can be easily broken into pieces when pinched with fingers. It likes water and dissolves quickly when in contact with water. Its aqueous solution is weakly alkaline and tastes slightly astringent. It has strong hygroscopicity and will deliquesce and clump after being placed in a wetland for three days, so it needs to be strictly kept away from moisture. It releases ammonia gas when it meets strong alkali, and the smell is very pungent, so it cannot be stored with lime or caustic soda. It is stable at high temperatures, and decomposes into phosphoric acid and ammonia when burned, so the place where it is stored needs to be far away from fire sources.
Where can Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP be used?
In industry, it is an essential flame retardant. When added to plastics and rubber, it will form a phosphoric acid film when in contact with fire to prevent the spread of fire; in water treatment, it can adjust the pH value and cause impurities in the water to condense and settle. In agriculture, it is the best choice of compound fertilizer, containing nitrogen and phosphorus. When applied to wheat fields, the seedlings are strong and the ears are full; when applied to orchards, the fruits are large and colorful, especially suitable for soils lacking phosphorus. In addition, it can be used as an adhesive in refractory materials to make bricks compact and resistant to high temperatures; in the fermentation industry, it is a nutrient for microorganisms to promote their reproduction. It is used like a spring, which can be poured as needed, and can moisten all things and help them grow.
How should Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP be stored?
It should be packed in thick plastic bags, each bag weighing 50 kilograms, and the bag mouth should be tied tightly with a rope, and wrapped with a woven bag on the outside. Store it in a high and dry warehouse, with wooden boards on the ground and oil paper on the boards to keep the materials one foot off the ground. The stack height should not exceed eight layers to prevent the bottom layer from being compressed and agglomerated. The warehouse needs to be well ventilated, and lime jars should be placed in several places to absorb moisture. During the rainy season, windows should be opened every day for ventilation. Choose a sunny day for transportation, and lay a tarpaulin in the carriage to prevent moisture. Stop the car in case of rain and avoid it. Do not drive in the rain. If it agglomerates, it can be crushed in a stone mortar, but the fertilizer effect will not be reduced, but it is inconvenient to use. Therefore, the key to storage is to prevent moisture and humidity.
What is the difference between Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP and Food Grade DAP?
The two have the same name but are actually different, mainly in purity. Diammonium Phosphate Industrial Grade DAP contains a small amount of impurities such as iron and aluminum, and can only be used in industry and agriculture; food grade DAP has been purified multiple times, with very few impurities, and can be added to food as a leavening agent. In appearance, industrial grade DAP is grayish, while food grade DAP is pure white. In terms of manufacturing method, industrial grade DAP uses crude phosphoric acid as raw material, while food grade DAP uses refined phosphoric acid. The uses are also different, industrial grade DAP helps with combustion and fertilizes the fields, while food grade DAP increases looseness and keeps it brittle.
